Our Mission

Attic Angel Association

Attic Angel Association is a not-for-profit, independent organization of volunteers who improve the quality of life within Dane County. Members meet health and human service needs through volunteer and financial support with special concern for children and the elderly. A major focus is Attic Angel Community which provides living and health care options for older adults.

Attic Angel Place and Attic Angel Prairie Point

Attic Angel Community provides high-quality services in a caring and personalized atmosphere that respects the dignity, encourages the independence and enhances the quality of life of each resident.

Our Structure

Attic Angel Community is a local, not-for-profit, independent organization composed of four individual corporations:

  • Attic Angel Association (volunteer, fund-raising and grant-making arm)
  • Attic Angel Prairie Point (independent living neighborhood of ranch-style homes)
  • Attic Angel Place (senior living with various levels of health care)
  • Attic Angel Management Services (service for hire to manage similar senior living facilities)

Each has its own board of directors to provide leadership and oversight for that entity. The entire community is managed by a professional executive known as the president/CEO of Attic Angel Community. (Attic Angel Management Services is currently overseen by the Attic Angel Association board.)

Our Inclusive Environment

Attic Angel Community believes in diversity and inclusion among our volunteers, staff and residents. We value a culture of many voices and ideas. Our community is stronger when we create an environment including people of all races, sexual orientations, and ethnicities. We commit to respect, embrace and learn from differences, and educate ourselves and advocate for racial and economic justice, equality, and equity. We commit to recruit, retain, and mentor a diverse workforce and volunteer organization. We will work with community leaders and the philanthropic community to address systemic racism.

The Playing Field

The Playing Field Poster

Children affected by trauma such as homelessness and those with special needs such as autism spectrum disorders have different sensory needs for emotional support that helps them learn to manage behaviors. Our dream is to create a play space that allows children to be successful while ... being kids! Some of our plans:

  • A large open space for running (crowded spaces are often a behavior trigger for children)
  • High fencing and an appropriate climbing structure (children impacted by trauma or those on the autism spectrum often take bigger risks and climb higher)
  • Sensory panels that welcome independent play when children are agitated
  • A maze for children to walk through (this helps the brain to organize)
  • Small structures where children can feel safe
  • Specially designed pieces to work large muscle groups

By helping children at this critical point in their development, your gift will be helping the future of our community!

Updated 10/21/20

• Prairie Point Open House Resumes: Starting Oct. 29, the model home in our Prairie Point neighborhood (424 Meadow Rose Lane, Madison) will be open for tours every Thursday from 9 to 11 am.

• New Mask Requirements: As of Tuesday, Sept. 8, we will no longer permit the use of cloth masks for our visitors. Studies have shown that procedure masks, or surgical masks, are the safest choice in preventing the spread of the virus. We require all visitors to Attic Angel, even during outdoor visits, wear procedure masks when visiting loved ones or entering the building for any other reason. Procedure masks can be purchased at several retailers, including Walgreens, Menards, Amazon, etc.
