Spiritual wellness fuels understanding, comfort and happiness. Our own Attic Angel chaplain provides programming to meet both temporary and ongoing spiritual needs. In addition, we offer peaceful areas for meditation, worship and celebrations of remembrance.

The Oasis

This special room is set aside for individuals who need to be alone or families who need to be together in times of spiritual need. Residents experiencing grief or a change in health or life situation may wish to take advantage of this private space for reading, study or planning with family, friends or spiritual counsel. Resources include books, CDs and religious items.

Worship Services

Sunday worship, led by area pastors, is offered each week at 10:30 a.m. Each Monday brings Bible Devotions Café at 4 p.m., and each Wednesday an ecumenical Communion service is offered at 3:30 p.m. Queen of Peace Parish offers Catholic Mass here twice a month on Fridays and Communion at Attic Angel twice a month. In coordination with Jewish Social Services, Shabbat services are held quarterly.

Bible Study

Our chaplain offers weekly Bible study to residents of the Apartments, Households and Prairie Point. Readings and discussions focus on a new topic each week.

Song and Story

This weekly program for residents of the Health Center and Haven blends music and story, and incorporates interesting information, around the week’s theme. Residents enjoy singing together and sharing life experiences.

Grief Support Group

Led by the Attic Angel chaplain, residents gather weekly for four consecutive weeks to share stories of grief, gain some coping mechanisms and learn what to expect while grieving.

Services of Remembrance

Residents, family members and staff are comforted by these services, which include readings, music and a time of sharing memories. In the Apartments and Households, A Time to Remember is arranged closely after a resident’s passing. The same is true for the Haven, which holds Celebrations of Life. In the Health Center, Services of Remembrance are held monthly.

The Playing Field

The Playing Field Poster

Children affected by trauma such as homelessness and those with special needs such as autism spectrum disorders have different sensory needs for emotional support that helps them learn to manage behaviors. Our dream is to create a play space that allows children to be successful while ... being kids! Some of our plans:

  • A large open space for running (crowded spaces are often a behavior trigger for children)
  • High fencing and an appropriate climbing structure (children impacted by trauma or those on the autism spectrum often take bigger risks and climb higher)
  • Sensory panels that welcome independent play when children are agitated
  • A maze for children to walk through (this helps the brain to organize)
  • Small structures where children can feel safe
  • Specially designed pieces to work large muscle groups

By helping children at this critical point in their development, your gift will be helping the future of our community!
