Senior Events in Middleton & Madison WI

Leading by Example for Long-Term Care

Health care representatives from Obihiro, Japan (Madison’s sister city) visited Attic Angel Community for a second year in a row for a firsthand look at quality senior care in the United States.

Specifically, the group seeks a deeper look into the way Attic Angel offers a full continuum of care, provides a sense of community, tends to the logistics and quality of operations and keeps a handle on costs. Planned in addition to a meeting about independent living services programs in Madison, the Attic Angel visit is the only one to a senior care facility, making Attic Angel a leader for sharing best practices.

Madison and Obihiro have been sister cities since 2006. Two of the visitors – Dr. Ken Hasagawa, CEO of Toukeikai Hospital, and Mr. Takeshi Sanuki, secretary of the sister city organization in Obihiro, have visited Attic Angel previously. This year, Dr. Hasagawa wanted to introduce two of his top staffers to the possibilities for improving senior care in Japan. The four men are pictured with Jo Oyama-Miller, board president of Madison-Obihiro Sister Cities Inc., and Derek Buckley, VP/operations of Attic Angel Community.
